The Aim of the KASISI Foundation

The Kasisi Foundation aims at providing structural, financial support to the Kasisi Children's Home (About Kasisi) in Lusaka, Zambia. Its objective is to raise sufficient funds to enable the Home to cover its daily expenses over a long period of time. These expenses include, apart from costs for food, medicine, education, electricity etc., also the meager salaries that are paid to the 50 employees (the so-called 'Mums'), who work side-by-side with 10 Roman Catholic Sisters.

The Government of Zambia supports the Home with EUR 4 per day, which is, however, by far inadequate to meet the daily expenses that are involved in the care for 250 children. To run the Children's Home efficiently, and cover its most basic costs, it has been calculated that at least EUR 150 per day is needed. Thus, for its day-to-day running, the Kasisi Children's Home entirely depends on the support and donations of well-wishers. Various aid organizations, local as well as international, have already provided support for special purposes, such as the purchase of washing machines. Yet, ad hoc contributions such as these, however welcome, do not present a structural solution to the Home's overwhelming daily requirements.

REGULAR DONORS

For this reason the Kasisi Foundation is looking for donors who are willing to sponsor either a whole day, or part of a day (morning, afternoon or evening) by contributing EUR 150 or EUR 50, respectively, on an annual basis for a period of at least five years (and perhaps even longer!). This way, a continuous flow of funds to the Home can be secured.

Every donor can choose a day on which his/her money will be sent to the Home, and this personal 'Kasisi day' will serve as a special, memorable day (like a birthday or wedding anniversary) to both the donor and the Children's Home. Click here for our calendar.

(Dutch tax payers who are donating funds to charities for a minimum of five consecutive years are entitled to income tax deductions. The 1 percent ceiling does not apply).

By paying an additional EUR 10, donors can compete in a raffle to win an interesting, one-week trip to Lusaka, which includes a visit to the Kasisi Children's Home (click here on trip).

ONCE-ONLY DONORS

-- 'Once-only' donations of course always remain welcome, as every Euro/Pound/Dollar is needed and much appreciated!

-- Schools, businesses, churches, societies, clubs, etc. wishing to raise funds to assist with our Project 'More Buildings for the Kasisi Children's Home' are welcome to contact the secretariat of the Kasisi Foundation (phone/fax +31 (0)572 392530) or one of the Board Members at info@kasisi.nl for more information. As the number of orphaned children is rising fast, largely the result of the combined effects of poverty and the devastating AIDS pandemic, more buildings need to be added to the Kasisi Children's Home. The Wild Geese Foundation is supporting us in realizing the much-needed extensions, however, any additional help will be most valuable.
